Song of the Seals, Kayaking Tulalip Bay Washington State
View of Tulalip Bay from Water access and some fog on the bay.
In my opinion the best time for Kayaking Tulalip Bay is early morning.
A foggy no wind glassy smooth Sunday morning at sunrise is the very best. The bay comes alive with the sound of life and the human traffic noise in the background is at a minimum and does not drown out nature. I have a giant pet peeve regarding all the noise we humans like to make with engines and tires on pavement.
The old saying, “Early bird gets the worm”, says it all. Me, kayak and the early to rise wildlife are up and at it way before everyone in the houses around the bay. Distant fog horns can be heard. No boat traffic. Glassy smooth conditions.
Morning is quiet except for the flapping of wings on the water during take off. Screeching of gulls. Splashing of waterfowl.
The song of the seals is totally cool while kayaking Tulalip bay. The barking echoes around the bay. The seals are like natures fog horns. Eeek. Why no pictures of the seals? The dorky camera I have is too slow for the fast swimmers when the come up for air and race all over the place.
Seals greeted me and the kayak at the Tulalip Bay water access early in the morning. Lots seal splashing at the shoreline.
The wind in this area does not usually get going until later. So the early bird gets the worm. Quiet, calm and critters in the light fog on the bay.

For a chorus of birds and singing, barking seals Kayaking Tulalip Bay can not be beat early in the morning, when humans are asleep and quiet here in the great outdoors of the Pacific Northwest part of the Puget Sound inland wateway system.
