There’s a lot to learn about whether it is blogging or a host of other things online.
When it comes to monetizing a blog, website etc. there are some important things to learn. Number one is NEVER give out your SSN, Social Security Number online, except to secure sites like the IRS …
When I started checking into online advertising for this blog I said wait a minute, “They are asking for my SSN. Eeeek.”
So, I searched high and low via Google and discovered a couple of sites that mentioned the issues around NOT giving out SSN numbers online. Each site pointed me in the direction of the IRS, Internal Revenue Service, online site.
You can go to the IRS and study all about the EIN and other information they provide. Learn and then decide for yourself if you need or want to complete the online EIN application. If you decide to get an EIN online it takes a few minutes and you get the EIN number instantly if all works out correctly.
There a person and citizen of the USA that is doing business online, making money online can get what is called and EIN, Employers Identification Number. The number can be gotten by filling out online forms the IRS provides. The process takes a few minutes. You need to complete the application within 20 minutes. I did not have all the information the IRS wanted. I had to stop and start again after getting the LLC information needed. The second time worked smoothly.
Upon completion a EIN is provided. Copy and save that number to give to places online instead of your SSN. At the end you can also download and save a PDF confirmation. If you’d prefer the entire process can be done via paper snail mail. You can also get a copy of the confirmation online via snail mail. Your choice.
