Historically keywords were a BIG deal. Today keywords take a back seat to backlink popularity. You can have all the correct keywords but your page will NOT come up top search, more then likely. If you make a page with something like "dddd kf a fheijh 1237" or other junk in the title, meta tags, and content you might come up high in the SERP if it is ever indexed because you won't have much competition.

This is not to say that you shouldn't practice common sense and use good keywords and content from the title to the bottom of each page and in the meta tags. That is because no two SERPS are the same from day to day or even hour to hour, sometimes. Plus Google and other search engines switch the way they SERP. The old fashioned way using keywords over popularity might be vogue again tomorrow. So be safe and pack your pages appropriately with good keywords and hope you get indexed and that someone will find you online from a SERP.
