Getting listed, ie. indexed, in search engines can take from a few minutes, I have had a site indexed in 15 hours. Popular sites like publishers with hot up to the minute news articles index immediately. The average amount of time it about 3 months at Google.
You can call a local newspaper by voice this evening and have an advertisement in the publication the next morning, less then twelve hours later. Whereas search engines can take months if ever. Calling and getting an ad in a print publication with your web address online line and in the classifieds or display ads in the paper will help get your web pages indexed faster. Consider print/web advertisements as
backlinks.
